Israeli blues bands will vie for a spot in a global playoff in Memphis. Four bands will compete Oct. 11 in the "Battle of the Blues Bands" in Jerusalem for a chance to represent Israel at the International Blues Challenge in December, when 80 bands try to win $25,000 and the title "Best Unsigned Blues Band." The Israeli group Blues for Peace, whose motto is "And they shall beat swords into guitars," is sponsoring the Jerusalem show.
