Haifa Blues Festival was set against a backdrop of trawlers, cargo ships and cranes on the docks of the city's port. Past Haifa Blues Festivals drew thousands from Israel and abroad and featured artists such as Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Nick Cave, John Mayall, Paul Young and Sheryl Crowe.

The 3-day spring Haifa Blues Festival showed that despite prevailing misconceptions of Israel as a country plagued by terror and turmoil, there's plenty of fun in the Holyland. Although the Haifa Blues Festival was cancelled in 1996, there is optimism for its revival.
