Guest Artist: Arnie Lawrence

Arnie Lawrence, founder of the International Center for Creative
Music, Jerusalem is a bebop jazz legend. He has performed with
Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Chico Hamilton, etc. Arnie is
also the mentor for Warren Haynes, Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors
and founded the New School Jazz Program in New York City.

******** The IBC *********
The International Blues Challenge (IBC) will take place in
Memphis, Tennesee in December 2003. Over 80 bands will compete for
$25, 000 in cash and prizes and the title of the "Best Unsigned
Blues Band". The IBC is sponsored by the Blues Foundation that
serves over 100 affiliated blues organizations and thousands of
members worldwide. (www.blues.org). One of the competing bands
at Battle of the Bands will represent Israel at
International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.
About Blues for Peace
Blues for Peace was established in to honor the
roots of blues music, promote peace and the understanding that
ALL peoples have had their share of the blues. The Blues for
Peace slogan says... "And they shall beat their swords into
guitars"
BFP events have included an evening of "Blues and Ethiopian
Music", "Blues Bash" for a People to People group (Eisenhower
Foundation) that toured Israel, Jordan and Lebanon, and a "Faith,
Hope and the Blues" concert in Jerusalem at which Arnie Lawrence
performed. In August, BFP held a midinight "Blues Cruise" on
the Sea of Galilee for 100 people on a Birthright Israel tour
featuring the SOBO band.
